February Monthly Wrap Up

Happy Wednesday everyone!

I totally spaced last week and didn't get any blog posts up! :( It turned out to be a pretty busy week and to be honest, I wasn't feeling very inspired to get any sort of blog post writing done. My motivation and inspiration well for the blog is starting to run on empty. I'm going to try and refill it during March though, so I can stay consistent.

February Writing: February was less of a writing month and more of a revising/editing month. I revised and edited Golden Touch (I've said it to several people and on several social media platforms, but that was the cleanest first draft I've ever written in my life!). I'm beyond happy with how it's turned out. Everything about that book makes me so, so happy and I can't wait to start writing book 2! I don't know when Golden Touch will be published... It's the kind of book that I wrote one hundred percent for myself and for the pure enjoyment of writing. I'm not sure I'm ready to share it with the rest of the world. However, you will be hearing about it and I'll probably share about it on here and on my Instagram as time goes on because I love it so much!

I also tackled the mess that is Cursed. I told a friend I'm starting to think I shouldn't have called it cursed because this book actually feels cursed! The revising/editing process was a real challenge. I have a feeling the publishing process is going to be a bit of a rush. But that's a sequel for you. I've come to realize about myself and my writing process, that sequels are hard and I have a feeling sequels will always be hard for me. (I'm hoping the sequel to Golden Touch is as smooth and enjoyable as writing the first book haha). The cover for Cursed isn't made yet, I'm just now looking for beta readers, but I think I'll be able to have it ready and out by the end of March. That's my goal and I plan to stick to it.

February Reading: Umm... I literally read nothing this entire month. I read The Rivalry of Renegade X at the very beginning of the month. It was awesome and funny and all kinds of great as always. I'll never not read a Renegade X book because they are just shear entertainment and fun.

And I finished Forever, the last book in the Mercy Falls series on February first.

I also started Chosen by Kirsten White but... didn't get much further than chapter two. It's been a dry reading month.

I'm also almost half way through Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. We're reading the whole series for my Harry Potter class and I decided that the best way to get out of my reading slump was to use reading Harry Potter was a class assignment. It makes me feel obligated to read and make time for it.

February Life Stuff: I'm blaming my lack of blog inspiration + reading dry spell on how difficult February turned out to be. The first week of February went OK I think... It wasn't awful, but it also wasn't great. My anxiety slowly started to get worse near the end of January and progressed from bad to worse throughout February. The second week of February was really bad. My anxiety and depression was raging. I was a total mess that entire week. By the end of the week I was so desperate, I tried anything and everything to get my anxiety back under control. I stopped eating certain foods (I've cut almost all dairy and meat out of my diet), started drinking more lemon water and teas to heal and detox my body and started using essential oils and other supplements more religiously. But I think what helped the most was the air purifier my mom got for me. Apparently the air in my room was really bad? The thing smelled like it was burning for almost the whole first day I got it because it was burning all the crap out of my air and, well, purifying it haha. And I swear the day after I got that, my anxiety started getting better. It's hard for me to believe that something in the air could have been causing me so many awful physical and mental and emotional problems, but I also can't ignore what's right in front of my face. I also think it's a mix of the other things I've been using, but having clean air helps a ton and now that my body isn't being attacked by the stuff in the air, it's allowed for everything else I've been taking and doing to fully help me control and lower my anxiety.

Anyways, last week was one hundred percent better than the week before that. I had a root canal appointment on Thursday and usually I would have been full on freaking out, anxiety attack and everything but for the entirety of Wednesday and Thursday morning when I got it done, I felt really good. Calm with a very low and manageable amount of anxiety. I feel like I've done a complete 180 and it's pretty amazing. I'm now a firm believer in the importance of clean air and how much damage toxins and dust can do to you.

Also! To All the Boys P.S. I Still Love You came out this month and it was as amazing as I'd hoped it would be! I just can't get over how much I love Lara Jean and how much I love Peter Kavinsky and how much I love the two of them together! Lara Jean is the literal best and that movie was all kinds of awesome. It was so creative and colorful and I just love the aesthetic of it.

Clone Wars season 7 also started last Friday and I am so excited for it! I feel like no time has passed at all. The episode effortlessly transitioned from the end of the last season into this one like nothing ever happened and I love it! I can't wait to see more of Anakin and Ahsoka!

Looking forward to March: Ahh March... my favorite month of the year (seconded only by October). I turn 22 this month! 😱 I love my birthday so much, I get so excited haha! I don't know what I'm going to be doing cause, unfortunately, it's on a Monday, but I know that I'll be getting cake and presents and Chinese food and that sounds good to me. I'm really hoping it'll be a nice day and that maybe my mom and I can go out somewhere. My last few birthdays, we've gotten to go out for a few hours and I've really enjoyed that. I think my last birthday we went down to my grandparent's and that was really fun. Sadly, I don't think we'll be able to do that this year. Either way though, I'm just excited for my birthday.

I also plan to publish Cursed on March 31st! It'll be a little tight, but I think I'll be able to pull it off. I can't wait to share the sequel with everyone and I really hope everyone who reads it, enjoys it. One of my biggest fears is that it won't live up to expectations or that people will say it wasn't as good as the first book. Every review I've gotten has said how much people have enjoyed it and I'm just nervous the sequel will get less than stellar reviews... But I think after hearing back from beta readers and going through it one or two more times, it'll be as good as I can possibly make it.

I actually already started the sequel to Golden Touch and I plan to continue to write it throughout March. It may get pushed to the side a little because I also have to start figuring out book 3 of the St. Croix Falls series.

In March I also want to read more... My reading has been sorely lacking and I've missed it. Several writers I follow have been talking about how important reading is as a writer and how a lack of reading can effect your writing. I completely agree and so, I think it's a good thing to purposefully make time to read throughout the day and the week.

So yeah! I'm excited to see what March holds. I'm excited to turn 22 and see what my 22nd year has in store for me. :b

How did your February go? Anything exciting happen?

How to Revise like a Pantser ft. Big Hero 6 Gifs

Happy Wednesday everyone! I hope you've had a great week so far and that you have a great Easter weekend ahead! We plan on going to my grandparent's on Friday to celebrate Easter with family and spending the night there so that'll be a fun time. :) Alright, so I contemplated doing an Easter-y post on here but I wasn't even sure what that would look like... So instead, I thought I'd do something fun and happy in honor of the celebration of Easter on Sunday. Without further ado, here is your Big Hero 6 gif filled revising process from a real life pantser: The end of your first draft is in sight! You type like crazy, stay up past your normal bedtime until it is finished. When you type The End, the satisfaction that you actually did this thing sets in. Guys, it is the sweetest feeling ever. Knowing you worked so hard to complete this draft and came out on the other side. Unscathed? Perhaps not. But triumphant? Definitely! That first draft is a total disast

Cover Reveal: Golden Touch!!

Happy Tuesday!!  Today's the day! I turn 23 and I couldn't think of a better way to celebrate than to share the cover for Golden Touch! I think this is by far my favorite cover my mom has ever done. It's crazy to think that this time last year Golden Touch was still just a first draft and I was in the middle of writing book 2 of the series. A defining part of my twenty-second year will always be having revised Golden Touch and written almost the entire Archive Series. And now I get to open up my twenty-third year with sharing the cover and writing book the first draft of book 5, the very last book in the series. God is so good guys. I really think He gave me Golden Touch and this whole series a few months before the events of 2020 started. He gave me a story I could get lost in, I could find joy in even during some of the hardest times of the year. And now I get to share the cover and I get to close out the series and I just pray and hope that God will use Golden Touch and

How to Write a Negative Character Arc

Anyone else love reading a train wreck? I find negative character arcs refreshing and fun to read and watch because not a lot of people do them. Like I'm a sucker for a redemption arc. I love characters that start out horrible and bad and "irredeemable" and then slowly redeem themselves and become the good guy. But from time to time I just love watching a good character go bad. Call me evil but I hope I'm not the only one who enjoys this. I've actually wanted to write this post for a while after rewatching Merlin last year and then over the past month me and a friend were rewatching Star Wars and I've always enjoyed the prequels because of Anakin's downward spiral. Also the last season of The 100, you watch as Octavia completes her journey to becoming one of the meanest, worst antagonists in the show. And that's saying something. The other day I really thought about what other characters who have negative arcs there are but I honestly couldn't th
