March-May Wrap Up!

 Happy Tuesday!

So I had a March/April blog post all written out and forgot to post it! So here's a March-May recap! How has the last three months gone for you? March ended up being a really good month. I turned 25 and had a really great birthday I got to hang out with friends, watch some new shows and am almost done with the Throne of Glass series. April and May have also been really good months for me. God's blessed me in so many amazing ways over the past three months.

I feel bad that this blog has fallen so to the wayside for me. I used to post every week and be so excited and now I just really struggle to keep this updated. I'm starting to think it might be time to let this blog post unless I somehow get renewed motivation/inspiration for it.

March-May Writing:

March was a very good writing month. I just reached 65K in Immortal Circus #3, and despite a few small hiccups, it's been flowing really well. I'm enjoying getting to draft a book after spending months focusing so much on edits, not to much getting to draft the end of a series. I've realized that I love writing final books. I get to tie all the loose ends together and give my remaining characters happy endings. Usually by the last book the OTP's are all together and they get to have lots of cute, happy moments too. I just love it, so I've really enjoyed it.

I also sent the first Immortal Circus book to an editor at the beginning of April, I got that the edits back and have now sent it back for copyedits! I also sent the first chapter of IWWP to another editor and plan to send her some more of it in the next month.

This past week, I've started working on a new Triadic Kingdoms book! This one is set in the Badlands and will be a gender-bent loose Aladdin retelling. I am very excited about it and have loved writing it so far.

March-May Reading:

Throne of Glass has completely taken over reading for March. I think it took me all month to read Queen of Shadows and Empire of Storms. Now I'm onto the last book Kingdom of Ash. I really enjoy the series, I just feel like it's gotten a little slow and lagged a bit for me in the past two books. I'm kind of excited to move on to a new book series and start reading other books haha

And... things have not changed in April. I am still trudging through the final book in this series. I've enjoyed so much of this series. It's been really good, but honestly, it's also been a bit of a struggle and I'm just ready to be done with it. I want to move on to a new book.

In May I finally finished the Throne of Glass series and am now working on A Name Long Buried by C.M. Banschbach and am loving it!

March Life Stuff:

I turned 25 and had a great birthday! We went to the mall and got some shopping done. I bought myself maybe one too many dresses (though, really, you can never have too many dresses, right?? haha), stopped at Half-Priced Books and started my collection of Throne of Glass books by getting three of the six (seven?) books in the series. We got Chick Fil A for lunch and I took pictures at the 25 miles per hour sign. My mom had a delicious corn and gluten free cake with strawberry icing that was absolutely addicting. 😍 All that to say, it was a fun day and I'm so thankful for the friends and family who made me feel so loved that day.

I hosted a game night with friends, so that was fun. We got quail and chickens this month too! We kept the quail, but gave the chickens to some friends who already have chickens and a big back yard for them to have a good life in. I got to go to a museum I've wanted to check out for a while, so that was fun and have just been spending a lot of the month at work, going to church and church group and writing. A big accomplishment, though, is that I did drive all the way to a mall like 30 minutes away to meet up with a friend to go to a museum with. I never would have thought I'd ever make it there, and yet I drove all the way there and back even with the mall being super busy and it being super windy out. Driving and being able to drive without too much anxiety has been such a blessing and has opened up so many doors for me.

In April, I got to hang out with friends and just make a lot of really special memories with them. We had a really good Easter weekend with family and then got to go to the Easter service at our church. That was a really fun weekend. I got out of my comfort zone and tried a lot of new things that I did not plan to do in the month of April. But that seems to be how every month goes haha I never know what's going to happen sometimes until it actually does. Sometimes for the better... and sometimes not so much. We hosted a game night with friends that was so fun, got to go to the children's museum and to the movies to see the new Mario movie. Overall, April was good with lots of fun surprises that I was not expecting. One of the things that ended up being a happy surprise was me meeting someone special in April.

We became official this month when we went to comic con together. He's really amazing. It's been really great to get to know him and watch our relationship move forward so naturally and easily and I'm just so thankful that God led me to such a fun, sweet, patient and kind guy. I'm sure you will be hearing a lot more about him as the months go on haha

That's kind of the biggest life update over the past month. Not much else has been going on besides just getting to spend as much time as I can with him and enjoying this new season of my life. I got to go to comic con on Saturday with a friend and see the Clone Wars cast panel. And then on Sunday, I got to go with Jacob (my boyfriend) and he sat in line with me for at least an hour waiting to meet Ashley Eckstein who voices Ahsoka in The Clone Wars. It was such a fun time and Ashley Eckstein was absolutely worth the wait! She's the sweetest person you'll ever meet and it was pretty cool cus she was the first person I got to tell about becoming official with Jacob. It was such a good day.

The rest of the month was made up of sweet times with friends, doing a Twilight marathon with some friends, having some bonfire nights and a game night with more friends and getting to introduce Jacob to Avatar The Last Airbender.

Looking Forward to June:

Almost every Saturday in June is booked for me. I've got a party to go to almost every weekend next month and I'm not mad about it haha Really, in June I'm just looking forward to finishing edits for Immortal Circus, getting the ball rolling with edits for IWWP and working on this Triadic Kingdoms project.

I'm excited to get to spend more time with Jacob. Go on all the dates, watching some more of ATLA and play my first Dungeons and Dragons campaign with him. I'm just leaning into this sweet season God has given me and getting to spend as much time with this amazing guy as I can.

I can't wait to go see Into the Spiderverse and the new Transformers movie too! And I'm sure there will be lots of hanging out with friends and getting in the pool at last!

Friday in Review: Fictional Vacation/Would you Rather

Happy Friday! So, they awesome Lily Cat tagged me in this fictional vacation/would you rather challenge and I am so excited to do this. It sounds so fun! Alright so here's the deal:   ~ Include the graphic  Madeline  made. ~ Answer the Questions  ~ Tag some other people if you feel so inclined Let's jump right into this!  Would you rather...  Train with demigods for the summer at Camp Halfblood OR attend Hogwarts to learn some spells for a semester? These movies were a disgrace to the books buuut I needed a gif so here you go haha How is this even a question? ;) Camp Halfblood of course! I adore the Percy Jackson series, so I would do just about anything to be a halfblood for the Summer. The real question is, who would my parent be?? My enneagram four side who loves being special and different wants me to be a kid of one of the big three... maybe Hades just to make myself extra special and unique from everyone else ;) But m...

How to Revise like a Pantser ft. Big Hero 6 Gifs

Happy Wednesday everyone! I hope you've had a great week so far and that you have a great Easter weekend ahead! We plan on going to my grandparent's on Friday to celebrate Easter with family and spending the night there so that'll be a fun time. :) Alright, so I contemplated doing an Easter-y post on here but I wasn't even sure what that would look like... So instead, I thought I'd do something fun and happy in honor of the celebration of Easter on Sunday. Without further ado, here is your Big Hero 6 gif filled revising process from a real life pantser: The end of your first draft is in sight! You type like crazy, stay up past your normal bedtime until it is finished. When you type The End, the satisfaction that you actually did this thing sets in. Guys, it is the sweetest feeling ever. Knowing you worked so hard to complete this draft and came out on the other side. Unscathed? Perhaps not. But triumphant? Definitely! That first draft is a total disast...

Best Resources for Writers

Happy Wednesday once more everyone! So recently I've been doing a lot of craft-learning and have discovered some pretty awesome resources that have been so helpful to me. I'm also contemplating trying my hand at a How To guide for writers. I've already written a How to Write a Serial book and it just needs to be touched up. I think I might make it one of my freebies for my newsletter. So then not only do you get a short story but also a how to guide cuz I realized a lot of the newsletters I sign up for come with how to guides or writerly resources. But anyways, here are some of my favorite books/podcasts/blogs that have been so, so helpful to me over the past few months: Craft Books: Go Teen Writers: Edit Your Novel by Stephanie Morril and Jill Williamson: This one has a little bit of everything in it and is perfect for beginners. If you've just started plotting your novel, are in the middle of writing it or have begun the editing process this is a must have!  ...
