August Monthly Wrap-Up!

Happy Friday everyone! Sorry I've been so AWOL this month... I think I've just been so busy and haven't had time to remain as active on here as I would like. I'm thinking of just switching to posting on only Wednesdays and if something comes up for Friday then I will. Classes have started, Wayward released in September and I'm revising book 2 and working on a new WIP. It's going to be a busy month so we'll see how active I am on here.

Anyways, here's my monthly wrap up for August!

August Writing: I got so much writing done this month! I finished editing Wayward and I implemented most of my beta reader's feedback (I'm still waiting on one more). Today, if Amazon will allow it, I want to order my proof copy to make sure all looks well. I can't wait to hold this book in my hands!! I also finished book 2 of St. Croix Falls. That was a bit of a hassle to finish... I'm super happy with the way the ending turned out but the beginning and middle is going to need some major work. At the moment, I'm giving myself the week off from it to get some distance and take a breather while I work on a new WIP that has a lot of potential. So, yeah, August went really well writing-wise.

August Reading:

I finally finished Keen at the beginning of this month. It was beautiful and amazing and I loved it so much. I especially loved Caoine. She's introverted, a little awkward at times and unsure of herself and I could definitely relate to that. It was nice seeing an introverted character that didn't become extroverted by the end of the book just because she has a boyfriend and made some new friends.

A new Renegade X novella came out this month too! The Persistence of Renegade X was awesome and I loved it so much! Damon is the literal best and all of Chelsea M. Campbell's books in the Renegade X series are hilarious and so fun to read. They definitely take you on a wild ride haha

And last but not least, The Edge of Everything by Jeff Giles. This book was an all of a sudden buy when I saw it at Barnes and Nobles. It has such an interesting concept and I love, love, love X and Zoe! They are literally the best. 😍 And speaking of introverted, slightly awkward characters who don't change just because of a relationship or as a part of their arc, X is a wonderfully introverted character who remains that way through the whole book. He learns to speak up and stand up for himself, but he still can be shy and adorable and I love it!

August Life: August was kind of a whirlwind. I was ready for the month to end when it first began... Don't ask me why, I have no idea. But now that it's almost over I'm kind of sad... The year feels like it's just flown by and while I am definitely ready for Fall, I am not ready for there to be only like four months left of the year. The thought stresses me out a little bit haha 😰

Classes started this week and so far they're going good. I'm taking Native American Religions and Indians of North America (an anthropology class). So far they've been really interesting, especially the Native American Religions class. We're reading Braiding Sweetgrass and it's been a very interesting read and has made me think about a lot of things differently.

My mom, my little brothers and I just got back from a trip actually. We went to Michigan and the trip started out a disaster... Let's just say the house we had planned to rent didn't go as planned but thankfully it all turned around. We were on our way back to my grandparents when my mom found a Holiday inn nearby and we ended up staying two nights in a suite and having a blast at the gorgeous beach and the cute little town. It was a great time but I am happy to be home.
The waves were huge! We had a red flag warning the whole two days but we didn't mind. We played in the sand and I loved listening to the waves crashing. It was really beautiful and reminded me of the ocean.

This was the view from the front of our hotel. The lake was literally right there.

And I couldn't resist taking a #bookstagram pic of the book I'm reading for one of my classes on the beach.

And I get to close the month off by going to comic con with some friends tomorrow!! We get to see John Barrowman and I am so excited. I love comic con so much! I went to our local one in 2017 and it was the best time, so I am eager to go back. I love the costumes and the atmosphere and all the things (too many things) to buy!!

Looking forward to September: I'm looking forward to the cool weather, getting to wear jeans and jackets and boots. I'm excited for my Church small group to start up again. Taking a break for the summer just seems way too long of a break to me. But most of all, I am so, so excited for the release of Wayward!! It'll be out near the end of the month (maybe even earlier if all goes well)! I can't wait!

If you haven't pre-ordered it yet you can right HERE.

How did your month of August go??

Friday in Review: Fictional Vacation/Would you Rather

Happy Friday! So, they awesome Lily Cat tagged me in this fictional vacation/would you rather challenge and I am so excited to do this. It sounds so fun! Alright so here's the deal:   ~ Include the graphic  Madeline  made. ~ Answer the Questions  ~ Tag some other people if you feel so inclined Let's jump right into this!  Would you rather...  Train with demigods for the summer at Camp Halfblood OR attend Hogwarts to learn some spells for a semester? These movies were a disgrace to the books buuut I needed a gif so here you go haha How is this even a question? ;) Camp Halfblood of course! I adore the Percy Jackson series, so I would do just about anything to be a halfblood for the Summer. The real question is, who would my parent be?? My enneagram four side who loves being special and different wants me to be a kid of one of the big three... maybe Hades just to make myself extra special and unique from everyone else ;) But m...

How to Revise like a Pantser ft. Big Hero 6 Gifs

Happy Wednesday everyone! I hope you've had a great week so far and that you have a great Easter weekend ahead! We plan on going to my grandparent's on Friday to celebrate Easter with family and spending the night there so that'll be a fun time. :) Alright, so I contemplated doing an Easter-y post on here but I wasn't even sure what that would look like... So instead, I thought I'd do something fun and happy in honor of the celebration of Easter on Sunday. Without further ado, here is your Big Hero 6 gif filled revising process from a real life pantser: The end of your first draft is in sight! You type like crazy, stay up past your normal bedtime until it is finished. When you type The End, the satisfaction that you actually did this thing sets in. Guys, it is the sweetest feeling ever. Knowing you worked so hard to complete this draft and came out on the other side. Unscathed? Perhaps not. But triumphant? Definitely! That first draft is a total disast...

Best Resources for Writers

Happy Wednesday once more everyone! So recently I've been doing a lot of craft-learning and have discovered some pretty awesome resources that have been so helpful to me. I'm also contemplating trying my hand at a How To guide for writers. I've already written a How to Write a Serial book and it just needs to be touched up. I think I might make it one of my freebies for my newsletter. So then not only do you get a short story but also a how to guide cuz I realized a lot of the newsletters I sign up for come with how to guides or writerly resources. But anyways, here are some of my favorite books/podcasts/blogs that have been so, so helpful to me over the past few months: Craft Books: Go Teen Writers: Edit Your Novel by Stephanie Morril and Jill Williamson: This one has a little bit of everything in it and is perfect for beginners. If you've just started plotting your novel, are in the middle of writing it or have begun the editing process this is a must have!  ...
