Character Sketch: Mia Avery

Happy Wednesday everyone! So I had planned to get a post written over the weekend buuut things don't always go as planned. Instead I came down with a bit of a cold and though I'm feeling a little better, my brain is not up for writing an actual post. So, here's an impromptu post about all things Wayward cuz I'm so excited about this book but am currently procrastinating editing it haha

Also, I wrote a whole post about my journey as an indie author and success and failure for Brittney Kristina which will be up on her blog either later today or tomorrow. She's doing a whole guest post indie author series on her blog and it's awesome! Plus her blog is just super chill and cool and she has some great content on there so definitely go check it out.

Anyways! Onto Mia, the main character of Wayward book one of the St. Croix Falls series! I've never done a post like this before so I hope you guys enjoy it and enjoy meeting Mia and learning more about her. :)

Name: Amelia (Mia) Avery

Age: 17 (almost 18)

Physical Appearance: Chest length blond hair, light brown eyes and pale-ish skin with a splash of light freckles

Fashion sense: A mix between girly and sporty. She doesn't mind wearing dresses and actually does like getting dressed up and everything, but on a day to day basis she wears a lot of casual clothes. A lot tennis shoes or converse. Running/sporty clothes or like jeans or shorts and t-shirts and hoodies.

Personality: Has a wry sense of humor (my favorite kind of humor 😉). Stubborn and determined. Definitely not a push over and doesn't take crap for nobody. But also is genuine and caring, super loyal. I'd say she's am ambivert. She doesn't mind being a loner and at times even prefers to be by herself, but she also likes having friends and spending time with them just as long as she does get some time to recharge and chill by herself.

Hobbies: Running. She loves running and was on the track team in the city before she and her mom moved to St. Croix Falls. Mia also loves movies. All types, but her favorites are action/adventure movies.

Favorite food/drink: Fries and milkshakes

Favorite place: The roof of her old apartment complex back in the city.

Parents: Delilah Avery

Siblings: None

Best friend: Angelica Leif

Love interest: Rhett 😍

Strongest traits: Strongest: Generous, loyal, sincere and persistent.

Flaws: Has a bit of a temper, a bit paranoid (though for good reason), stubborn and can be prideful

How much self-control and self-discipline does she have: I'd say she doesn't have a ton of self control. Probably like 3 out of 5 but has a pretty good sense of self-discipline.

Fears: Failure. Failing those around her, failing herself. Being a disappointment. Never feeling comfortable in her own skin, never accepting herself.

External Goal (of book 1): Figuring out the truth and what is going on in the weird town that is St. Croix Falls

Internal Goal (of book 1): Finding home. Finding that missing piece to herself she lost.

There you have it. A little overview of Mia. I hope these little snippets of information gives you a picture of who Mia is. I didn't want to give too much away and there's so much more that's going to happen in the series that I couldn't put in here, but trust me, there is much more in store for Mia. Now... to get back to edits.

Also, if you feel so inclined you can add Wayward to your shelves on Goodreads now! Add Wayward to your shelves here!

Have a great rest of the week everyone!

What do you think of Mia? Have you ever done a character sketch before?

How to Revise like a Pantser ft. Big Hero 6 Gifs

Happy Wednesday everyone! I hope you've had a great week so far and that you have a great Easter weekend ahead! We plan on going to my grandparent's on Friday to celebrate Easter with family and spending the night there so that'll be a fun time. :) Alright, so I contemplated doing an Easter-y post on here but I wasn't even sure what that would look like... So instead, I thought I'd do something fun and happy in honor of the celebration of Easter on Sunday. Without further ado, here is your Big Hero 6 gif filled revising process from a real life pantser: The end of your first draft is in sight! You type like crazy, stay up past your normal bedtime until it is finished. When you type The End, the satisfaction that you actually did this thing sets in. Guys, it is the sweetest feeling ever. Knowing you worked so hard to complete this draft and came out on the other side. Unscathed? Perhaps not. But triumphant? Definitely! That first draft is a total disast

Cover Reveal: Golden Touch!!

Happy Tuesday!!  Today's the day! I turn 23 and I couldn't think of a better way to celebrate than to share the cover for Golden Touch! I think this is by far my favorite cover my mom has ever done. It's crazy to think that this time last year Golden Touch was still just a first draft and I was in the middle of writing book 2 of the series. A defining part of my twenty-second year will always be having revised Golden Touch and written almost the entire Archive Series. And now I get to open up my twenty-third year with sharing the cover and writing book the first draft of book 5, the very last book in the series. God is so good guys. I really think He gave me Golden Touch and this whole series a few months before the events of 2020 started. He gave me a story I could get lost in, I could find joy in even during some of the hardest times of the year. And now I get to share the cover and I get to close out the series and I just pray and hope that God will use Golden Touch and

Friday in Review: May Monthly Wrap-Up

Happy Wednesday once more everyone! I hope you've all had a great May. May has been full of lots of life stuff and writerly stuff and reading. I am so excited to share it with you all (along with an awesome new thing I'm doing for next month on here)! May Writing: May was full of lots of writing... Like lots. I finished draft four of The Lost Ones, came up with the name The Lost Ones and finished editing draft five. Now comes the hard work of plugging in all those changes and edits into my Word doc. Oh the joys of writing... ;) But for real, I am so excited that I finished the read through for TLO and I am even more excited to finish this draft so I can get it ready for betas. This month I also planned out the series... I've never planned out a series ever. I'm a pantser so what do I do? I make life hard for myself by winging not only my novels but entire series too. That whole not planning thing? It didn't work for me and since I'm wanting to take myself m
