Latest Shows

So this post is on three shows that I have watched in the past...few months I think. Once Upon A Time, Scorpion, and Firefly.

Once Upon A Time:

So if you have never heard of this show you need to go, and look it up, and start watching it right now! Kidding. If fairytales are your thing I would definitely take the time to check this show out. Season three just started and if you didn't know the "theme" I guess you could say is Frozen. Yes, the amazing creators, Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis, were able to find actors and actresses that are pretty close to the animated characters of Frozen. I applaud them for that and for there awesome CGI with a certain snow monster and troll. Not to mention you get to see Anna in a very beautiful new dress. Ok, so I am done with talking about Frozen. Now I have been watching the show since it first came out and I loved pretty much all of it. But I feel like (sorry Frozens gonna pop up one more time) that Frozen has sort of taken over this season. Yes I liked the flashbacks in Arendelle but I had expected to see more Emma and Hook scenes, a little more of Henry and a few family shots out Charming, Snow Whote and their newest family member. Other than that it was a great premiere and I adored the Rumplestiskin and Belle seems. I also feel that Robin Hood and Regina (mostly Robin) handled a certain situation very maturely. Overall it was great.

Scorpion:

So I don't know as much about Scorpion yet because it just started. The Pilot was last week and in my opinion very well done. They built the characters well, gave them some sympathy and some awesome action scenes. Plus I really love seeing a group of people work together whether they be in a book, show or movie. Now I should probably explain the show before I start rambling about it. So the show's main character is Walter O'Brian from Holland. He's a super genius with the fourth largest IQ in the world. He has a bit of a mysterious and dark past that I love and his personality is great. A few years back he made a team of other genius's consisting of a mechanical prodigy named Happy Quinn, a human calculator named Sylvester Dodd and an incredible therapist. When the government needs help to stop fifty something plains from running out of fuel and crashing they all have to work hard to save all those people on the plains. By the end of the Pilot Walter and his team are hired by the government to help in situations that no one else could figure out along with a waitress raising a super genius kid. So now that you know a little about the characters and plot I can say what I thought. To be honest I was intrigued within the first minute and hooked the minute I saw a guy being hunted down by a black car. The characters are all very diverse and so... unique that I would just want to watch to see the team dynamic. I have never seen a show about a bunch of super smart, socially awkward people before. And get this. Its all inspired by the real life story of Walter O'Brian. Cool right? The second episode which aired Monday night was very good as well and shed a little more light on Walter's past. I suggest you check this show out if you like high stakes, great characters, and an interesting sense of humor.

Firefly:

Now this show is way up there on my list next to Once Upon A Time and Arrow (if you know Arrow than you are awesome). I was first exposed to the amazing world of Firefly (created by the famous Joss Whedon) by my dad. He put on this movie called Serenity and told me I would love it. Turned out I did. The next day I had a small freak out because I discovered that Joss Whedon had created a TV show called Firefly a few years before the movie came out. I quickly asked my mom if I could watch it and the minute I got her approval I dove headfirst into it. It was amazing because in a movie characters only have a certain amount of screen time. The creators have to shove all of the backstory and information into a movie which leaves you begging for more by the end. But with Serenity the characters had already been introduced in the TV show so they didn't actually put every detail into the movie. So when I watched Firefly I ate it all up. Firefly is in the future where the Earth got all used up and they had to Terraform (create) new worlds. And I loved how each world was at its own different stage of history. One could have super basic technology while another could have the most advanced. And then there are the characters. Now I do have to say there is some... inappropriate content in this show but if your sixteen or older you should be OK. Here's the cast: Malcolm Reynolds (A.K.A Mal), who is the captain of Serenity. There's Zoe Washburne, who is second in command and married to the pilot of the Firefly class ship Serenity: Hoban 'Wash' Washburne. Inara Serra is a legal companion that is pretty much part of the crew and you can't forget Jayne Cobb. Yes his name is Jayne but that's OK because it fits him. He's a rough and tough weapons man. Their mechanic is sweet little Kaylee Frye (one of my favorite characters). On the Pilot of the show they pick up three passengers who becomes honorary members of the crew as the season goes on. There's Shepard Book who's a preacher and two siblings. Dr. Simon Tam and his little sister River Tam. Now I would say my favorite part of the whole show is Simon and River's relationship. Simon left behind his entire life and career to save his sister from an awful school who ruined her brain. He loves her and would go to the ends of the Earth to cure her. Their relationship is so pure and full of true love that it made my heart swell whenever there was a scene between the two. Even when River was being incredibly disturbing and difficult Simon defended and stuck by her side the entire time. The whole team has such a diverse range of personalities that is wonderful to watch all the crew members clash. Watch Firefly, then watch the movie and then write a letter to Joss Whedon and beg him to renew the show (that only got to one season but a few years later suddenly picked up a huge following).

Those are three of my favorite shows. Scorpion is still in the evaluating stage but I think it will quickly get stuck near the top of my favorite TV shows list. As for Firefly and Once Upon A Time, there is no doubt that those two are two of my favorites. Check them out and I hope this post was helpful.

March-May Wrap Up!

Happy Tuesday!  So I had a March/April blog post all written out and forgot to post it! So here's a March-May recap! How has the last three months gone for you? March ended up being a really good month. I turned 25 and had a really great birthday I got to hang out with friends, watch some new shows and am almost done with the Throne of Glass series. April and May have also been really good months for me. God's blessed me in so many amazing ways over the past three months.  I feel bad that this blog has fallen so to the wayside for me. I used to post every week and be so excited and now I just really struggle to keep this updated. I'm starting to think it might be time to let this blog post unless I somehow get renewed motivation/inspiration for it.  March-May Writing:  March was a very good writing month. I just reached 65K in Immortal Circus #3, and despite a few small hiccups, it's been flowing really well. I'm enjoying getting to draft a book after spending ...

Turning 25!

Happy Thursday!  At the end of February I was looking back at my wrap ups on my Instagram and on here and it almost made me start crying because of how far I've come. It made me stop and think about where I started my 20's versus where I am now. So much as changed and so much of it for the better. Just looking back at the pictures and wrap ups I've done over the past year, I feel like I'm thriving. I'm at a place I honestly didn't think I'd ever get to and maybe that was just me being dramatic or living in on and off depression for so many years, but it makes me tear up and so thankful to see how far I've come since 20.  At 20 I had a best friend I thought I would still be best friends with when I turned 25. I had him and two other friends at 20 and that was it. I don't even remember what church we were at five years ago, but it wasn't the church we're at now and I know I definitely was not thriving there. I felt so behind everyone else my a...

A Goodbye to The Archive Series

Happy Friday!  The final book of The Archive Series comes out next Tuesday. This has been almost three years in the making and I don't know what to say to properly say goodbye.  I started this series in December 2019 with Golden Touch. The idea had been sparked by me watching The Road to El Dorado and having a desire to write a treasure hunt story for most of December. Little did I know that the story of a girl finding a boy with a Midas touch up in the mountains to help her family with their money issues would turn into a five book series and be a huge part of my life for the next few years. I also had no idea that that series would get me through one of the hardest years - 2020. Honestly, God knew what 2020 would be like and He knew I was going to need a story and characters that would make me happy, give me joy and focus on during that very hard year. And for me, that was Amaya and Darren and this whole series.  I poured a lot of myself and my story into Amaya and Darr...
