Hey! Here's the second book in the Lunar Chronicles: Scarlet by Marissa Meyer:
Cinder is back and she's trying to break of prison. It isn't an easy feat, but with the help of a Captain she becomes the Commonwealth's most wanted fugitive.
In a small town in France Scarlet Benoit's grandmother is missing. There is so much she doesn't know about her grandmother, but when she meets Wolf, a street fighter that may know more than he lets on, Scarlet is forced to trust him. As they solve one mystery they run into another and before they know it they bump into Cinder, a known criminal. Together they must stay one step ahead of the Lunar queen who will do anything to get the handsome Prince Kai to become her husband.
I was so excited to get my hands on this second book. It was even better than the first mostly because for some reason I am naturally drawn to the dark, handsome and mysterious fictional characters and Wolf happens to have all three of those elements to the max. At first I was wary of Scarlet since I didn't know her well, but when Wolf came into the picture I settled in prepared to be swept away into Scarlet's life. By the time Cinder came up I was very happy to see her. I had been worried that Marissa Meyer would only focus on Scarlet in this book and I would have to wait in agony until she ran into Cinder so I was thrilled to see Cinder again and even more happier to see that she has a dashing and funny accomplice. Unlike the first book who only had mostly Cinder and Kai's point of views this one had Scarlet, Cinder and Kai's which I found sort of annoying though I understood that I needed to see through their eyes to get the big picture. I dragged myself into the chapters that contained Cinder and Kai and right when I got completely involved in their lives I was relieved to be back with Scarlet and Wolf. By far, my favorite character is Wolf in this book and I'm not sure if any of you can get this immersed in a book, but I can. It was amazing to me the way Marissa Meyer crafted the book so that you learned to completely trust Wolf and had no doubts for him. I won't tell the ending because I would absolutely hate to ruin that for you, but I will so that it's pretty awesome. And if you read the first book you will find the last name Benoit very familiar. At the moment I am almost mid way through the third book which I love, but I think that the second book will ultimately become my favorite if only because it was mostly about the relationship between Scarlet and Wolf. There was some violence in the book, by the end there was a lot of the word "blood". I honestly can't recall any swearing and of course there was a kiss but between who, I will not share at this time. Over all I think it was one of the best sequels I have ever read, but that of course is just me. So again I advise you to read the first book, get through that, and eagerly anticipate the second. Don't read the second without the firs, no matter how enticing I make it sound because you would have let yourself be deprived of the epic story of Cinder and handsomely dashing Prince Kai that will sweep you away. This book I think would be good for sixteen year olds and up. I promise that I will have a post on Cress, the third book in the Lunar Chronicles very shortly because if I keep up this pace of reading I am at right now I will be done with this book in about two days... maybe one if I stop everything.
