February Monthly Wrap Up

Happy Wednesday everyone!  I hope you had a great February and a fun Valentine's Day! February's been a good month for me. There have been some downs, but a lot of ups too. But now, I am so ready for March. February always feels like the month that gets me from A to B. I like February, but I love March because March is my birthday month, so I'm always eagerly waiting for the end of this month haha But especially this year... I'm feeling ready for March. I'm ready for the cold and snow to start to fade and for the sun to come back.  Writing: Writing-wise, this month has been good. I had planned to continue my short story/flash fiction streak, but it sort of fell to the way side... Mostly because I've been busy doing line edits for Golden Touch. I just finished those last week and I sent it to a friend of mine to beta read! She'll be the third person to read this book and I'm excited to get her feedback. It was good to do that read through again and fix ...

Tips for Writing Romance (Ft. TVD Gifs)

Happy Wednesday!  I realized I miss doing more writing-related posts and I especially miss making posts full of gifs, so I'm planning to post at least one writing post each month, starting with this one!  I'm pretty sure this is like my second or third year of writing a post about TVD and romance in February (or at least mentioning TVD in a post) and I am not sorry about it. 😂 I love The Vampire Diaries so much, and recently, I've been thinking about all the things I appreciated or that they got right while writing the romances.  So here we go. This is pretty much just one big TVD romances appreciation post, so if you haven't watched the show yet and plan to, be aware that SPOILERS are ahead.  Tips for Writing a good romance:  Make sure they start off as friends. This is what I love about Caroline and the guys she dated. All of her epic loves (and Matt... I don't know if he counts as an epic love?) started out as friendships. Even Klaus. He pursued her, b...

God With Us

Happy Wednesday!  I guess the story of Joseph really stuck with me a few Sundays ago because I wrote not one blog post about him, but two in the past few weeks!  One of the things the pastor mentioned about the story of Joseph was how God isn't mentioned until after Joseph has been sold into slavery. I had never noticed that before, so I went back to the story and looked at it myself and he was right. It isn't until chapter 39 once Joseph was sold to Potiphar that it says that "the Lord was with Joseph so that he prospered, and he lived in the house of his Egyptian master." Over the past two months, I've been spending a lot of time digging deeper into the Word, into my faith and my relationship with God. There was a stretch of time where it felt like He wasn't there. He wasn't around. I was just going through the motions. Sometimes I still feel like that. But here's the thing... just because we don't feel Him or see Him in our circumstances, doesn...

You Know Better than I

Happy Wednesday!  So, have you guys ever watched the Prince of Dreams movie? The one about Joseph? I'm just going to be honest, that movie and the Prince of Egypt movie gets me every single time. Those movies make me tear up and they make me feel so many feelings every time I watch them. Anyways, so two Sundays ago the pastor was preaching about the life of Joseph and how it wasn't until Joseph had been sold into slavery to Potiphar that God was first mentioned in his story. It said the Lord was with Joseph when he was sold to Potiphar and again it said the Lord was with him when he was wrongfully accused and imprisoned. His whole sermon was about how God is with us. As long as we have breath in our lungs, no matter our circumstances - good or bad - He is with us. I wrote a whole other post (really it's just a really long rant about how God is with us in everything we do) and maybe one of these days I'll share that, but today I want to talk about something that isn'...

A Few Quick Questions

Happy Friday!  So, I've been thinking a lot about how I can utilize this blog more. I love this blog and I love writing on this blog, but at the end of the day, this space isn't for me, it's for you! So I thought what better way to get an idea for how I can make this space even better then to ask those who read my posts!  First of all, I want to say thank you so much to everyone who has followed me through the years and to everyone who is new to following me on here. You're comments and your views and you clicking the follow button on here means so much to me and I'm so glad you've decided to be a part of my journey. I hope my posts and my writings have been encouraging to you and will continue to be uplifting to you.  Years ago, back in 2014 I think it was, I started this blog not really having any idea what I was doing. I do that a lot - or I used to at least - I dive into something with no idea how to do what I'm doing. I guess I'm a learn as I go kin...

January Wrap Up

Happy Wednesday!  Look at that! We made it through the first month of 2021. There some hard things that happened this month, but also some really good things. Going into January I had decided to take all expectations and pressures off myself. I went into this year feeling depressed, burnt out and tired. And now, because I let myself breathe and just be and figure some things out, I feel better going into February. Writing: One of the biggest things I took the pressure off of was my writing. Going into 2021, one of my goals has been to publish one of something. I had no idea what that something would be and to be honest, I was lacking ideas big time. I got the point where I was praying for God to give me something, to lead me to something. Some idea or an idea. I ended up stumbling across a novella I had written back in 2019 and then feeling the urge to write a slew of short stories and flash fiction. A writer friend and me partnered together to write a flash fiction or short ...

Endurance

Happy Wednesday!  I'm just going to be honest, the beginning of this year hasn't been amazing. I'm glad that I wasn't under the impression that the minute 12 o'clock hit on January 1st that the world would be a better place and that things would get back to normal. I would have been very disappointed.  Within the first week of 2021, I've been hit with the pretty personal blow of losing a very close friendship. Not only that, but then having it confirmed that our president for the next four years is going to be someone I'm not a fan of. There were riots and lots of people with lots of opinions about said riots on social media. It all sort of rubbed me the wrong way and just frustrated me. My depression and anxiety has been pretty bad all month.  I learned in 2020 that the world can feel - and is - an unfair place. A frustratingly unfair place and unfortunately, 2021 is proving that to me yet again. The world is an unfair and a broken place.  But amongst all...
