Friday in Review: How Alex Danvers Went From Strong Indepedent Character to Walking Cliche

So big Warning here and now: If you aren't caught up on Supergirl this post contains spoilers , it's most just one big spoiler actually. If you don't mind spoilers than read right on ahead. Ok, so this topic may be controversial and my opinion may not be the "popular" opinion but it's been on my mind a lot lately. Yesterday inspiration struck at 10:00 because my brain is weird and I got to thinking and came up with a great Friday in Review topic and name for this post. It's all about Supergirl's very own big sis: Alex Danvers. I loved her in season 1. She was strong and independent and outspoken. She was fiercely loyal and a great role model, not to mention even greater big sister. I guess I could resonate with her overprotectiveness toward Kara since I'm the big sister of four younger brothers and have felt that protectiveness and need to help them many times myself. She and Kara's sisterly relationship was beautiful and something...

The Powers That Be and The Senior Partners: What I Learned From Watching Angel

Sooo... I'm still kind of hung up on Angel and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. But today I just had a revelation. If you've ever watched Angel you know about the Powers that Be and The Senior Partners. I mean seriously the guys on Angel talk about them all. The. Time. Wolfram and Hart may have been the ongoing Big Bads throughout Angel but they were just the puppets. The Senior Partners were the real deal, the ones pulling the strings. And if you haven't watched Angel and have no idea what the heck I'm talking about let me give you a quick summary. No spoilers or anything. The Powers That Be were what I would call the Fates of Angel. They sort of helped guide Angel and his team. They were the good guys for the most part. The Senior Partners were what Wolfram and Hart called the Big Bads they worked for. They were the guiding force of Wolfram and Hart (which is an evil law firm... yeah...). The Senior Partners also sought to control Angel. Why? Maybe I missed something ...

January Writing Update!

Hi everyone! So today is sort of a slow/weird day for me so I'm just going to give you guys an update on what's going on in my writerly life. Weapon Icean is published as I'm sure you all know. It was a super exciting and long process that was so worth all the time and effort. Right now its up on Amazon.com for 12.00 and Kindle for 4.99. You can also get it on Kindle Unlimited so make sure to check that out. Also I just set it up for a countdown promotion but it has to be on KDP Select for at least 30 days before it can get that free promotion so it's set to start February 15th! February 15th it'll be $0.99. February 16th it'll be $1.99. On the 17th it'll be $2.99 and on the 18th it'll be 3.99. It ends February 19th so keep an eye out for that and I'll make sure to update my blog, Instagram, Facebook and all that to remind you guys. ;) It's my first promotion so I'm pretty excited to see what happen! Weapon Icean 2 which I am calling P...

A Rant About Redemption and Bad Guys

Hey! So, the other day I read Aimee Meester's  post on her blog about how we need to stop romanticizing the villains and grey morality and it was really thought provoking, especially for someone like me. I love bad guys. I love their backstories and their complex character arcs and I love how their usually super flawed and quirky with dynamic, larger than life personalities. I've always been fascinated by them, even when I was little kid and would sit and watch X-Men Evolution and all the Disney movies and read the Sisters Grimm and Percy Jackson. Maybe it was my inner writer but I loved Gambit and Rogue and Puck and Nico. I loved all the characters with the tortured pasts, the characters with a rough present and a foggy future. And now that I'm older and watch "big kid" stuff I love my Loki and Damon and Spike (just finished binging Buffy and Angel and am now getting into the graphic novels because I loved those shows so much!) and Captain Cold from the Flash...

Weapon Icean Cast Sorted Into Their Hogwarts Houses

Hi everyone! So it’s Friday and I wanted to do something fun. On Facebook the new thing is filtering your Hogwarts house onto your profile picture. I’m Hufflepuff so I have my Hufflepuff filtered onto there. And then I found this guy who had sorted all the Disney princesses into Hogwarts houses and a lot of people disagreed with his choices. Anyways, it all got me thinking what houses my characters would be in so I decided to sort them. For a few of the trickier ones I took the quiz for them and came up with some surprising, yet fitting house choices. So check it out and see what you think: Delphi: Slytherin/Thunderbird: Slytherin gets a bad rap but it was a tie between Ravenclaw and Gryffindor for Delphi and Slytherins tie both of those houses best qualities into one: smarts and loyalty. But Delphi also has ambition, leadership and is very resourceful and cunning. She may even be a little prideful, but that’s what makes her such a great protagonist, friend and leader. The Th...

A List of 2017

Hey everyone! So it's officially 2017! Yay! I always get so excited and hopeful when a new year rolls around. I don't know why. Maybe because you see everything that's ahead and everything that can be ahead or could be ahead and there's just a general excitement over all the possibilities. 2016 definitely had it's ups and downs but 2017 is a clean slate and there are a few things I know for a fact that I want to accomplish and will accomplish. I don't do resolutions. Resolutions feel flimsy to me, mostly because whenever I (and others) try to make them they end up falling apart about a month into the year. So instead I make goals. I stick to goals pretty well. When I say I'm going to do something I'm going to do it and nothing is going to stop me. I know I put a list of what I'm looking forward to in 2017 on my last post but I want to write out all the things I'm not just looking forward to, but all the things I will do this year. Mayb...
