Down the Rabbit Hole

Another Nanowrimo is almost behind us. For those of you who may not know what Nanowrimo is, its National Novel Writing Month. A month where writers from all over come together to write 50,000 words. It's an amazing and encouraging and inspiring environment to be in all month. Everyone is so supportive of one another. We all want one another to succeed at winning nanowrimo. This year was by far the hardest nanowrimo I've ever had. All the other ones I had a clear plan, I was starting either a new project or a project I've been excited about for a while. Last Nanowrimo I wrote Second Star to the Right. The last two before that I wrote different versions of Project Hellion and for my first one, I wrote Weapon Icean. All of those were oddly easy. They went fairly smoothly. I never worried I wouldn't get to 50,000 words. This November... was very different. I think it was a rude awakening for me. I realized how hard Nanowrimo could be. Happy Wednesday! Wow... I feel like I haven't been on here in forever. I don't think I've posted anything all November... It's been a crazy busy month. I've been revising Cursed and writing St. Croix Falls 3 for Nanowrimo, plus I have papers and quizzes and discussion boards due for my classes. I feel like I'm drowning in stuff to do. Not to mention, it's been a bit of an emotional month too... There's been a lot going on in my head that I've had to work through. I realized last night as everything started to feel so overwhelming, that I'm doing too much. I've put this ridiculously huge expectation on myself, mostly concerning my writing. Did I really expect myself to write 50,000 words for Nanowrimo, finish revising Cursed by the end of the month and still do everything else I have to do (like keeping this blog updated)? Especially around the holiday season, which is always so busy anyways. After writing, revising, editing and publishing...
