Matthew 6:34

When I read this verse a while back I was very discouraged and scared and worried about the future. Then I read it and I thought to myself, "Jesus says it best. He is so right." And the truth is He is right. Today has enough problems as is. Do we really need to add the worry of tomorrow too? No, not really but we can't help it. I tried to not worry but sometimes it can be very difficult.     We need to know that God will protect us and He has a perfect plan for us. If we truly trust Him then out future will be in His hands. How wonderful that is to know that the One who loves us most is holding our futures in Hos hands?

Galations 5:22

Everyday I try my hardest to have all the fruits of the Spirit but I fail a lot and that's ok because I tried and I am only human. I hope this verse encourages you today to strive to be all these things. :):)

Halloween!

Hey there! Hope you're having a great Halloween.     So I have talked some with my parents around this time about Halloween and how you should celebrate it. First of all let me give you some history on Halloween. It's the first day of Allhallowtide. Allhallowtide or Hallowmas is a Western Christian observance of All Hallow's Eve, All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day that lasts from October 31 to November 2.      Hallowmas is a time to remember the dead, including martyrs, saints, and faithful departed Christians. Also there was a custom called souling where people would make small cakes and treats that they called souls and would hand them out to children and the poor which went from door to door. Each soul eaten would represent a soul being freed from Purgatory.  (Just so you know I don't believe in any of this. I do Halloween for the candy. :)     Souling is said to be the origin of trick-or-treating. Wearing costumes came from a thing called guising that origi

Review: Illusive by Emily Lloy-Jones

When the MK virus swept across the planet, a vaccine was created to stop the epidemic, but it came with some unexpected side effects. A small percentage of the population developed superhero-like powers. Seventeen-year-old Ciere Giba has the handy ability to change her appearance at will. She's what's known as an illusionist...She's also a thief. After a robbery goes awry, Ciere must team up with a group of fellow super-powered criminals on another job that most would consider too reckless. The formula for the vaccine that gave them their abilities was supposedly destroyed years ago. But what if it wasn't? The lines between good and bad, us and them, and freedom and entrapment are blurred as Ciere and the rest of her crew become embroiled in a deadly race against the government that could cost them their lives. So I finished this book about a week ago and thought it was definitely worth sharing. I found Ciere Giba (the main character) very interesting and

Storyworld Building

I just finished The Young Elites by Marie Lu and it has taught me so much about worldbuilding. Here are the top five things that I've learned about worldbuilding from The Young Elites and Storyworld First by Jill Williamson:   1. Religion strengthens: In The Young Elites I observed that one of the many reasons why Marie Lu's world was so realistic was because it had it's own religion with gods and legends and beliefs of it's own. Jill Williamson also talks about this in her book and how to make a thorough, realistic religion. It was very helpful and after finishing Marie Lu's book I decided to make my own gods and goddesses and legends for my characters to believe in. I watched as my world strengthened and grew with that one simple change.  2. Description : Also in The Young Elites I noticed who Marie Lu focused on her descriptions and details so thoroughly. The way she described a city in only a few incredible sentences took my breath away and it inspired me to

Laughter

People can laugh at me and make fun of me all they want but I won't stop sharing my opinion.  Anyone ever read Pride and Prejudice? Or seen the movie?  P.S. I will have my book review on Illusive by Emily Lloyd-Jones on here by Thursday. Sorry for the wait.

Fear

This was made by my best friend, Alyssa, who may have to have surgery but even though she is nervous she still knows that God has a plan for her and that everything will be alright.  Don't be afraid of anything today, tomorrow and forever.

A Thousand Ideas

This quote is very true:  I'll be walking through a park or going to the movies or pretty much anywhere and an idea will hit me. My mind is hard wired for YA fantasy and Science Fiction books and so usually I'll think wow wouldn't it be so romantic if a girl met the love of her life here? Or this is an awesome place, it would be great in a story. And then my mind runs away from me and fantasizes farther until I have a great idea.  Does this happen to anyone else?

Colton Dixon and Joss Whedon

First of all I'm writing this after I just got back from an awesome night of praising The Lord at a Colton Dixon concert. Check it out:  It  was pretty awesome. :):) And second of all I love Joss Whedon. He's an amazing writer and I love his show Firefly. It has a lot of... adult stuff in it as I've said before but he does an amazing job with his characters. Anyway here's a quote from him that I thought was great and reminded me of myself and I think why I'm drawn to writing so much:  "I write to give myself strength. I write to be the characters that I am not. I write to explore all the things I'm afraid of." -Joss Whedon

(Sorry if they don't... I've never done links before.)

2 Timothy 1:7

I have been reading through 2 Timothy very slowly and I came across this verse awhile ago:  It says that God didn't make us with fear but of power, love and self-control. We were made to have those beautiful virtues but sin has corrupted the world and everyone. When we have God we can take control, and yes, there will still be fear but there will also be that power, love and self-control that God gives us.

Phillipians 4:13

This verse is a great inspiration and makes me realize that I can do anything as long as I have the Lord on my side.  He will always be there for me and will give me the strength to do anything that He knows I should. I hope its just as inspiring and helpful to you as it is to me.

Jamie Grace

I have recently been listening to Jamie Grace and she is such a wonderful inspiration. Her music is wonderful and full of her love for God. Its so beautifully refreshing. This little line stuck out to me a few days ago and it was so wonderful and true that I just need to share it:  God is greater than any pain we feel in this world, whether its physical or emotional He will always guide you back to safety or be your comfort, the shoulder you cry on.

Double Living

Here's a quote that I found on Pinterest that I really love:  Writing, I think, is not apart from living. Writing is a kind of double living. The writer experiences everything twice. Once in reality and once in that mirror which waits always before or behind.            - Catherine Drinker Bowen.  It is so true and beautiful. Writers live in reality where everything is painfully real and then they sit down in front of the paper or laptop and dive into a world where they have control of everything and know everything. That's the best part of writing.  Also here's the book that I started reading and I highly recommend reading:

The Flash

Last night the new CW show, The Flash, premieres. If you didn't tune in last night to watch it at 9:00 P.M. then you should go to the CW app and check it out.  Be ready to be blown away by The Flash.

He Knows

I have memorized this verse just over the course is this year. It's replayed in my head countless times and has really helped to grow my trust in the The Lord.  "For I know the plans I hav for you," declares The Lord, "plans to prosper and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."  I  hope that God will speak to you through this verse as well. :):)

When God Writes Your Love Story by Eric and Leslie Ludy

So I finally finished this book! And it was incredible and amazing on every level! I'm just going to dive right in and tell you everything that's great about this book. But first here's the cover: Ok, now that you know what it looks like I can start talking. So first of all I love how Eric and Leslie share the book. One chapter is Eric's opinion and the next is Leslie's which is great because all the girls reading this book can know what's going on in a good christian guy's head and a guy can read what a good christian girl wants in a man. At the first chapter or two I was confused because I started reading and the two author's started talking about God. I thought ok... this is good. I like where their going but I thought this book was supposed to be on relationships... not about God. But I ended up loving where they went with it. They talked about how you need to have a great, passionate desire to know and love God before you can even think about divin

Writerly Fridays

So I've decided to start something called Writerly Fridays where I will be posting a helpful quote from famous authors.  I hope you enjoy these posts. :)

Latest Shows

So this post is on three shows that I have watched in the past...few months I think. Once Upon A Time, Scorpion, and Firefly. Once Upon A Time:      So if you have never heard of this show you need to go, and look it up, and start watching it right now! Kidding. If fairytales are your thing I would definitely take the time to check this show out. Season three just started and if you didn't know the "theme" I guess you could say is Frozen. Yes, the amazing creators, Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis, were able to find actors and actresses that are pretty close to the animated characters of Frozen. I applaud them for that and for there awesome CGI with a certain snow monster and troll. Not to mention you get to see Anna in a very beautiful new dress. Ok, so I am done with talking about Frozen. Now I have been watching the show since it first came out and I loved pretty much all of it. But I feel like (sorry Frozens gonna pop up one more time) that Frozen has sort

Dragons!

Hopefully you have seen How to Train Your Dragon 1 and 2 because this post is about creating your own dragon. So some friends of mine are very... Well let's just say they like those movies a lot. And we were all sitting down and talking about what our dragons would look like, what they would do, and what their names would be. I explained mine in depth to one of a friend who happens to be very good at drawing and he decided to write it all down and draw me a picture of it.  That's the one he colored in and I am so happy and thankful to him for taking the time to draw it all out. So my dragon's name is Hopper and his species' name is Grasshopper (yes I know I have a very original name). His whole body is covered in little needles that look green grass and he has pretty twirly horns. Personally I think he's adorable.  And here are his two other drawings. He is very thorough.  There's the side angle of Hopper. And the mid flight picture.  Take some time to think abo
